Collecting
your hire car
You will
always be asked to present your driving licence and credit card. Further
identification, such as a passport, may also be required. Your driving
licence will normally have had to have been held for at least one year
and be from country of residence. If licence is of non-English alphabet
(e.g. Japanese), then an International driving licence will usually be
required.
UK licence
holders with the new photocard driving licence will need to take their
photo driving licence card and its paper counterpart
(the old style driving licence will still accepted).
Your rental price will usually include basic insurance, but sometimes
you will need to make your own arrangements for insurance. If the car
hire company is providing the car insurance you may be asked if you require
any additional insurance cover. What this additional cover covers with
vary from car hire company to car hire company, so check with them for
more details.
Hire cars are usually provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned
full, otherwise a refuelling charge will apply. The cost of the refuelling
charge is usually more that the cost of basic fuel at a petrol station,
so always take the rental car back with a full tank of fuel.
You will be given a car rental Agreement to check and sign. This will
show any additional services and insurances you have asked for along with
the relevant costs.
You will also be asked to check the car for any damage and sign to confirm
any findings. This helps to assess whether any damage occurs during your
rental so be thorough.
You will then be given the keys together with a copy of the Rental Agreement
- and you are free to drive away!
